Description: A member of the endemic Australian Urodacidae family, whose closest relatives include members of the Scorpionidae inc., Heterometrus, Opisthophthalmus, and Pandinus.

Very similar in many respects to U. yaschenkoi and armatus in the way it chooses to live in the wild. Mesosoma colour varies from bright clay yellows to a reddish brown, with the latter being the more common variety. Legs, pedipalps and vesicle are generally a sandy yellow colour, with the metasoma often lighter in colour than the mesosoma. Hands are rounded and robust with dark reddish brown moderately short fingers. Tarsal claws are equal in length. Cheliceral teeth with many secondary serrations.
